Youth8 will provide you with a document to complete where we ask questions with the aim of gathering as much relevant information as possible.
As well as discussing the YP’s lifestyle and what they may have experienced or are experiencing. We create a plan that meets the YP’s needs and the referring bodies desires.
Youth8 have a profile for all of our mentors. Using both the mentors and young person’s information we will find a match based on hobbies and interests.
Our Engagement Mentor will meet the young person and support the transition over from another trusted adult in their life. The mentor will have a fun engaging session prepared based on the information provided during the referral stage.
Following the introduction, the engagement mentor and young person will engage in activities based around their common interests. The aim of this phase is for the young person to develop a level of trust in their mentor.
Once the engagement mentor feels they have the trust of the young person they will continue to strengthen the relationship. This will be done by setting small achievable targets and maintaining a consistent level of development.
& RESILIENCE BUILDING
Youth8 will use Maslow Hierarchy of Needs to continually assess a young person. If any factors of their lives falls below a specific level the Engagement Mentor will find relevant support networks.
Using all of the information gathered about the young person our team will meet to discuss possible opportunities we can offer them. E.G – Paid work, work experience, external groups.
Youth8 do have links with organisations and charities who would be welcoming to a young person looking for their next step. We will ensure the smoothest possible transition away from Youth8 support. Therefore, our mentors will explain that although the program is over, they’re still very much a support network. Our engagement workers will only step back/handover once we are sure the young person is secure.
